GIANCARLO GIUSTI
JONATHAN TORRES
Giancarlo Giusti is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. As a student of the masters program of architecture of The University of South Florida he has had the opportunity to explore the interconnection of materials that soon develops as an entire composition. Giancarlo has been a big follower of the modern movement of the sixties, while growing up in caracas he understood the transparency and plasticity of concrete, this material has been a very important factor within his designs as he describes; " concrete is always there, but we never see it, we use it, we drive on it, we just do not see it; it is a very humble material, it takes any form and shape adapting itself to the phenomenological developments of the urban fabric, and the most important, its capabilities to become a structure, a space, or-and a skin. " Thanks to his school, he had the great opportunity to meet very influential students and professors, such as Jose Rodriguez Colon and Jonathan Torres who have been not only friends and classmates, but also risk takers when it comes to developing moves like the ones practiced in the displayed sketches. To them, that is all it was one night concrete sketch.
Born in Miami, Florida, Jonathan Torres knew he wanted to study architecture at a young age. His dad, who owns a concrete company, taught him the essence, quality, and authenticity about construction and materials. Jonathan moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida's school of Architecture with hopes to get a Master's of Architecture, and is currently working on his General Contractor license. He has also had the opportunity to study abroad in the Czech Republic and travel throughout Europe, and South America, appreciating architecture of the world.
